A Rare Breed Worth Preserving
The Portland is one of Britain's oldest sheep breeds, with a history stretching back over a thousand years on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. Small, hardy and tan-faced, they are a Conservation Grade breed, classified as Vulnerable by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.
The Portland Sheep Breeders' Group works to promote and protect the breed, maintaining a studbook and supporting a network of dedicated keepers across the UK and beyond.
